He looks directly at the camera. Prince Lot on the right has a dark suit, striped waistcoat, dark cravat, and has a long chain around the neck. The central standing figure is of a mature man, clean-shaven, greying hair, also in a dark suit and waistcoat with white cravat. He has a ring on the little finger of his left hand. Creator Southworth and Hawes, Boston, Mass. From notes on back of registration card: A very similar example is in the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii. 'You might be interested that Alexander makes the following mention of having a daguerreotype made in Boston: 'we went to sit for our portraits, to a man who had asked the favour, to present them to the king. While we were in his studio, we there met a sister of Mrs. Marshalls who had another sister married to him. The day before we had gone to a degeaurotype [sic] man to sit, as this painter said he could take us well enough by the potraits [sic] if we could give him but a little time.' From the journal of Prince Alexander Liholiho, edited by Jacob Adler, Honolulu, University of Hawaii press, 1967, p99. Creator Southworth and Hawes."
