Three-quarter lenght portrait of Luigia Vigoni (1809-1884) with her little daughter Teresa Vigoni (1844-1848) on her lap. The mother is seated on a armchair turned towards the right and holds the arm of the girl who wears a coral necklace. Coral necklace was believed to cure diseases. The plate shows on the right lower margin the stamped name of ABRESCH like the daguerreotype VV_F131 belonging to the same collection. The daguerreotype is attributed to Antonio de Kramer, the founder together with Heinrich Mylius of the S.I.A.M. in Milan (Società d'Incoraggiamento di Arti e Mestieri) in 1838 where de Kramer was teaching chemistry. Bibl. Bonetti, Maffioli, L'Italia d'argento, 2003, p. 189. The daguerreotype could be displayed on a table by folding up the cardboard.
